Description
National Arena Bucharest is a modern football stadium in the eastern part of Bucharest, built on the site of the Lia Manoliu Arena. The construction of the new stadium was completed in 2011, and the grand opening took place on September 6 with a match between the Romanian and French national teams. The National Stadium Bucharest is the home arena of the Romanian football club Otelul and the Romanian national football team. According to the UEFA stadium ranking, the National Arena has been assigned the highest 4th category.
The stadium's capacity is 55,600 fans, while the number of seats can be increased to 63 thousand. Of these, 3,600 seats are located in VIP boxes, and from 126 to 548 seats can be allocated for media representatives. The main feature of the National Stadium is the retractable roof, which takes 15 minutes to open or close. The area of the football field is 108 thousand m2. The natural surface of the football pitch is equipped with a heating system. A multimedia cube with four screens of 30 m2 each hangs above the central part of the pitch. The stadium building has a six-story underground parking for 2,100 cars, 360 lounges, conference rooms and restaurants. There are 94 access roads on the territory of the National Stadium, which will allow all spectators to be evacuated within 8 minutes in the event of an incident.
In May 2012, the final match of the Europa League was played at the National Stadium of Bucharest, which became the debut European Champions Cup tournament held in Romania. In 2021, the National Stadium of Bucharest will host matches of the 2020 European Football Championship.
The National Stadium is located 4 km from the city center, so it is easy to get to it by bus, trolleybus, tram or metro.
