Description
The Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich is a football stadium and home ground for FC Zurich. It hosts home games of FC Zurich and Grasshopper Club Zurich, Weltklasse Zürich meetings and open-air concerts. It also hosts a wide range of corporate and private events. The Letzigrund can accommodate 50,000 spectators for a single event, making it the largest event venue in Switzerland.
The history of the Letzigrund Stadium began in 1925, when it was opened on November 22. Since then, the national team has played only here, and in 1926 the first ever football cup final took place.
When the stadium was transferred from the Zurich Sports Club to the city of Zurich in 1935, athletics, hockey, boxing and rowing sections were opened there.
Stadion Letzigrund has been rebuilt and expanded several times over the years of its existence. And in August 2006, it was decided to demolish the old stadium and build a new one in its place. The new Letzigrund is not very high, it only rises slightly above the level of the surrounding streets, perfectly fitting into the environment and surprising its visitors with a wide auditorium installed in the ground. Its distinctive feature is a covered ramp, at the top of which there is a restaurant. The new building today continues the history of the old Letzigrund, where 25 world records were set.
The new stadium Letzigrund will surely see even more world records, because it is designed for top-level sports, and sports stars of world renown perform there. It impresses, attracts, and invites you to attend events that will certainly go down in history. Join those who have already been able to appreciate the scale of the Letzigrund stadium, see their idols, and cheer for their favorite teams. Buy tickets and become a witness to a historic moment!
