Metallica is an American heavy metal band founded by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in 1981. The band's second album, "Ride the Lightning," recorded in Denmark in 1984 on a budget of $30,000, was a success and cemented the band's success on the international arena.

The band's third album, "Master of Puppets," brought them real fame. Despite the lack of radio airplay for their singles, live performances ensured the album sold millions. From that moment on, the band gained the status of world stars. In the following years, they would release eleven full-length albums and conduct numerous world tours. Metallica became a true icon of heavy music; their songs are featured in films and video games. The album "Master Of Puppets" was included in the US National Recording Registry as a significant cultural artifact.
